WHO WE ARE

Since 1961 the Cumberland / North Yarmouth Lions Club has served our two communities by providing eyeglass service and vision screenings, sponsoring Greely scholarships, supporting and sponsoring local scout troops, delivering poinsettias to the elderly at Christmas time, supporting the Greely Chapter of Kyle Cares, supporting the local Food Pantry, and spearheading the annual Christmas Tree lighting / Santa visit event in the Town Center.

We accept grant applications from community groups that align with our Core Charitable Causes. Our goal is to do the most good for the most people. Grants approved generally range from $500 to $1,500. Read how to submit a Grant Funding Request.

We have provided support to the Prince Memorial Library, Meals on Wheels, Iris Network, Salvation Army, Camp Sunshine, Camp Susan Curtis, the Maine Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, Sounds of Silence, Homeless Animal Rescue Team, and the Ronald McDonald House, among others.

In 1987 the club organized The CNY Lions Scholarship Fund to grant scholarships to Greely High School graduates entering college or seeking advanced degrees at technical or trade schools. To date, $413,800 has been awarded to 344 students. The fund is a Maine Non-Profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

These initiatives are made possible by donations and funds collected from our local Lions fundraisers: the Lions food booth at the Cumberland Fair and Maine Ultimate Yard Sale, our annual Golf Scramble, and our annual autumn apple pie sale (with donations to the Food Pantry). We count on the people of Cumberland and North Yarmouth to support these fundraisers and greatly appreciate their continued support.

We welcome new members year-round. Join us and help make a difference today!
